I am one of those who became fond of collecting rare plants during COVID-19 pandemic. Before I have limited knowledge regarding plant IDs and how to take care of them. In 2020, I have learned about, Philodendron, Aglonema, Monstera, Scindapsus and even the very common plant Pothos family which I am not aware of before.
Variegated plants become very popular due to their unique leaf colors. Some of the most popular rare variegated plants are Variegated Philodendron Billitiae and Caramel Marble. I was able to collect some of the rare plants like Monstera Borsigiana Albo from Holland which cost me around P65,000 pesos. I also got variegated Bipen, Variegated Adansonii Albo and Aurea imported from Thailand.
I am also eyeing Variegated Billitiae but I'm still waiting for its market price to hit 1,000 per leaf since before 1 leaf plant cost P100,000 and this time it drops to 15,00 per leaf. By the end of the year, I am expecting one leaf will cost around P500 to P1000. Plant is considered to be Therapeutic.
Meanwhile, A very rare succulent plant holds the title for the most expensive plant in the country. Called sansevieria rorida or BG regale sanseviera hybrid, it's named after its owner Boyet Ganigan, secretary of the Philippine Horticulture Society.
