25 Most Powerful Women of the 20th Century

Our very own, Philippines former President Corazon Aquino made it to the list of 25 most powerful women of the past century. According to Time.com..."She became a unifying force against the autocratic President Ferdinand Marcos." "Her sudden ascension as the first female President of the Philippines was the battered islands' first step toward democracy". "Weathering both coup attempts and corruption charges, Aquino was unable to push through much of the social reform that her supporters had hoped for. But when she stepped down in 1992, she still stood tall as the people's choice". Ring Ratings Update: Pacquiao moves to No. 1 in welterweight rankings

Only Manny Pacquiao could beat Antonio Margarito in a junior middleweight fight and subsequently supplant Floyd Mayweather Jr. atop the welterweight ratings. Pacquiao’s dominating victory over Margarito for a vacant 154-pound belt was impressive but it wasn’t enough to merit a spot in THE RING’s junior middleweight ratings, according to the magazine’s editorial board. The reason is simple: Margarito, unranked by THE RING going into Saturday‘s fight, is not a world-class junior middleweight. The former welterweight beltholder, who was knocked out by Shane Mosley in his last meaningful fight, is unaccomplished at 154 pounds. However, the editorial board viewed Pacquiao’s ability to dominate Margarito even though he was well under the 150-pound catch weight as an accomplishment that enhanced his standing in the welterweight division, where THE RING ranked him No. 2, behind Floyd Mayweather Jr., prior to the Margarito fight. Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 knockouts), whose weight for Marg

Pilipinas kay Ganda

New Logo of  Philippines Tourism-Pilipinas kay Ganda In his complaint relayed personally during the APEC summit to leaders of countries that issued a travel advisory warning their citizens about going to the Philippines, President Aquino mentioned about the November 15 launching of a new tourism logo. Less than 24 hours after “Pilipinas kay Ganda” was previewed (it was not yet the launching, Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim stressed) the accompanying site - www.beautifulpilipinas.com -was taken down because they found out that there’s an existing porn website also using the key words “beautifulpilipinas.” Why they didn’t find this out before the preview defies common sense. Tourism Undersecretary Vicente Romano said they have created a new website – www.tourismphilippines.com – to promote the P100 million new Philippine tourism brand that they have created. Anton Diaz of Awesome Planet website, who was at last Monday’s preview said, “It does not help that Beautiful Pilipinas is a double-e

8th Wonder of the World- Pacquiao 8th Title

Manny Pacquiao produced yet another boxing masterclass to claim his eighth world title as he dismantled Antonio Margarito in Texas on Saturday night. The Filipino phenomenon was simply brilliant as he continued his astonishing rise through the weight divisions by claiming the WBC light-middleweight belt. Fighting fittingly in the $1.2billion Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington - known locally as the eighth wonder of the world - Pacquiao proved he is very much the fight game's equivalent with another virtuoso display that left Margarito battered and bruised after 12 rounds of sustained punishment. The Mexican - back in the big time after that well-documented 12-month suspension for having illegal handwraps - achieved some measure of redemption with a brave display. But he was never really a threat to Pacquiao. Before the first bell the physical size of Manny's task was obvious - unofficially he weighed 148lbs to Margarito's 165 on fight night - more than a stone lighter. But

Filipino Songs sung by other Nations

Watch live streaming video from photomylens at livestream.com Some "nationalistic" Filipinos complain why my lot keep on singing songs from foreign lands. Then, recently on Facebook, a lot of videos of foreign choirs singing Filipino songs are being posted. They are practically doing the same. I guess it’s the trend then! I am proud that other races find Filipino music classic and beautiful enough, that our songs qualify to be a part of their librettos.  They find our music as excellent pieces that they perform it with all their hearts.  A kind of recognition, if I may say.  And for me, that’s something to be proud of.  Something to strengthen my national pride.  Something that’ll make me more proud for being born and raised as a Filipino.. True to the saying that music is the Universal language we Filipinos can sing other nations music and vice versa.
