The sermon on the mount and the Lord's prayer

Blessed are we to hear these words. The greatest speech ever given. Rather the greatest words ever spoken and ever heard. For centuries now, these words are being handed down from generation to generation . the power of these words to alter and shape the human consciousness. Pregnant with meaning - both earthly and mystic.

Pope Benedict XVI once said

"Indeed, what use would it be to you that Christ once came in the flesh if he did not enter your soul? Let us pray that he may come to us each day, that we may be able to say: I live, yet it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me (Gal 2:20)" -Pope Benedict XVI Source: 100% Katolikong Pinoy Join 100% Katolikong Pinoy- Facebook Profile  Page

Bill Clinton tells Pinoys: Get more people to come home

Ex-US president   Bill  Clinton faced an audience of elite Filipinos Wednesday and implored them to convince their countrymen abroad to return and help out the country.   “Create a climate where everybody [participates]. Get more people to come home," he said to a crowd in Manila Hotel that included his former Georgetown classmate Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Rapidly growing economies like China, India and Vietnam all benefited from a reverse brain drain, when educated expatriates returned to lend their expertise.   The Philippines needs to reorient the mindset of its people through education and access to employment to keep the population from migrating to other places in search of better paying jobs, Clinton said. "Filipinos have done great around the world, and I think that as an economic model, it's really good for individual people and families," he said, referring to the 8.5 million-11 million overseas Filipino workers who transferred more than $19.7 billion to the...

WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND…

The man slowly looked up. This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life. His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before. "Leave me alone," he growled... To his amazement, the woman continued standing. She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you hungry?" she asked. "No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president.. Now go away." The woman's smile became even broader. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm. "What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone. Just then a policeman came up.. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked.. "No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man to his feet. Will you help me?" The office...

THE ONLY HOPE FOR THE PHILIPPINES

by Father James Reuter, S.J. Our republic has become one of the weakest nations, steadily left behind by its more progressive neighbors. Forty years ago, we were only second to Japan in economic stature, and way ahead of Singapore , Hong Kong , Malaysia , and Thailand . Today, at our present growth rate, it will take us 30 years to get to where Thailand is. Our national debt is estimated to be at US$200B (compared to US$28B when Marcos fled). We will be competing, not against Thailand or even Vietnam , but against Bangladesh . We will be the most corrupt nation in Asia , if not in the world (we're already ranked 11th most corrupt nation by Transparency International) ... The signs are clear. Our nation is headed towards an irreversible path of economic decline and moral decadence. It is not for lack of effort. We've seen many men and women of integrity in and out of government, NGOs, church groups & people's organization devote themselves to the task of nation-building,...

Remembering those who have passed away...

A good blog by Mr. Jun Mercado: November is a special month for Filipinos. It is a month devoted to the remembrance of the beloved ones who have gone beyond this world. They are no longer seen and touched, yet every time we remember them, they become alive again. It is a different kind of presence, yet real and closer to the heart.   Death has always been a mystery. Religions have, in various ways, tried to unravel its mystery in order to ease the pain of death. Yet, the experience of death in the family is always accompanied by grief and loss. We continue to grapple with mystery of death, notwithstanding our faith in the resurrection of the dead.   In faith, we have accepted that death is not the ‘end of the line’. We believe that life endures beyond death. The good deeds, authentic relationships, and a life lived for others do not end in death.   Here lies the power of ‘remembrance’. By remembering our beloved dead and what they stood for during their life time, they be...

Making the dream of a corruption-free RP come true

MANILA, Philippines—However difficult it may be to swallow, the Philippines is perceived as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. According to the latest Transparency International global corruption index, the country continues to be in the “highly corrupt’’ category, ranking 134th out of the 178 countries included in the index. In Asia Pacific, the Philippines occupies the 26th spot out of a total 33 economies. But it is not too late to make a positive change. The Aquino government has six years to make good on its promise to drastically reduce, if not eradicate, corruption in the country. Given the current situation, however, this is quite a tall order. Impossible even, if government will be expected to do the job alone. This is why various business groups have decided to help make this dream of an almost corruption-free Philippines come true. Late last year, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and the Makati Business Club banded together to launch the Integ...

No, Winnie, Filipinos who go overseas are not traitors

Source: GMANews.tv A classroom video of UP professor Winnie Monsod urging her students to stay in the Philippines went viral and reached overseas Filipinos. A US-based Filipina doctor reacts to her message. "Filipinos back home, who seek their own success, would be well-served to rejoice in ours. We are no different. We are just far from home." I am a Filipino. I live and work in the United States. I have established myself as a physician of some stature in my community. American physicians acknowledge me as an esteemed colleague, students look up to me as their mentor, patients respect me as their doctor. They do not question the color of my skin. They do not treat me any differently from any other respected member of their community. I have been integrated into their lifestyle and have adapted to their culture. I speak as they speak. But I am Filipino. And I am proud of it. The Lost Generation of Americans from the 1920s includes some of the most easily recognizable names i...

Human - A beautifully carved poem by Luna Lovegood

Shared by Lady Meiske on Facebook Happy are those who knew how to truly feel. What makes us human? Is it our ability to reason? Is it our ability to solve problems, or our ability to protect ourselves? I daresay it is our vulnerabilities, our imperfections, the finiteness of life. Struck me, wound me and I bleed. Take a blow and I feel pain. Take away my hope and I cry. I feel. I recognize your presence and learn how to love. Take it away and I yearn. Isolate me and I feel sorrow. I am not forever. Even my bones will become dust and soon will be nothing more. My heart beats are numbered. Death awaits me. But I love and, and my soul becomes forever. But I hope, and rain comes to the desert. But I dream, and you and I become the universe. I knew and felt love. I am liberated from finiteness and death. All because  we are human .

30 second Speech by Bryan Dyson (CEO of Coca Cola)

VERY SHORT, MOST    EFFECTIVE AND    HOW TRUE   "Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them -  Work , Family, Health, Friends and Spirit and you're keeping all of these in the Air.   You will soon understand that  work   is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.   But the other four Balls - Family, Health, Friends and Spirit - are made of glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for it."     WORK EFFICIENTLY DURING OFFICE HOURS AND LEAVE ON TIME. GIVE THE REQUIRED TIME TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS & HAVE PROPER REST.

Jesus is the Reason for the Season

Jesus is Better than Santa Santa lives at the North Pole. JESUS is everywhere. Santa rides in a sleigh JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water. Santa comes but once a year JESUS is an ever present help. Santa fills your stockings with goodies JESUS supplies all your needs. Santa comes down your chimney uninvited JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart. You have to stand in line to see Santa JESUS is as close as the mention of His name. Santa lets you sit on his lap JESUS lets you rest in His arms. Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?" JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads. Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly JESUS has a heart full of love. All Santa can offer is HO HO HO JESUS offers health, help and hope. Santa says "You better not cry...
