PHL government Launched Holiday Nonstop Bus

To help reduce traffic congestion during the holiday season, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has authorized a holiday nonstop bus service that will be operational from December 5, 2015 to January 6, 2016. Private vehicle owners and commuters are encouraged to use the new nonstop bus services, launched for this holiday season to help decongest EDSA. The buses will travel nonstop from North EDSA and SM Megamall to Ayala Center, Makati, and back again. Makati-bound buses will drop off passengers at bus stops on Ayala Avenue before proceeding to the loading areas.* Parking at malls In the three participating malls located outside of Makati City (SM North EDSA, SM Megamall and Trinoma), selected parking zones will be open from 6:00 a.m. onwards. Public sector teachers, nurses to be paid twice more than private counterparts under SSL

The number of unfilled positions in government is 191,988 or 12.53 percent of total authorized positions. The proposed compensation plan is composed of across the board salary increase plus a mid-year bonus equivalent to one month basic salary and the new Performance-based Bonus (PBB) as an added bonus contingent on performance. The mid-year bonus, in addition to the present year-end bonus or 13th month pay, will account for an 8 percent increase in annual salary. The PBB is equivalent to 1 to 2 months basic salary or an 8 to 16 percent increase depending on the position. Newly-signed PAGASA Modernization Law to strengthen role of PH's premier weather agency. Last November 3, 2015, President Benigno S. Aquino III signed the PAGASA modernization law, which aims to improve PAGASA’s technological operational capacity, strengthen its role as the premier national weather agency, and attain its vision as a center of excellence for weather-related information services. The modernization program includes, among others, the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipments, facilities, and systems, which is to enhance the research capabilities and weather data collection of the agency. It will establish a technology-based data center that is consistent with international standards, which aims to make all weather-related information readily accessible and available to the general public. The agency upgrades will address the brain drain issue of PAGASA through the creation of a human resource development program that will include a new salary scale for the personnel
