According to DMW Secretary Ople, they will release the humanitarian assistance to OFW-Saudi Claimants for unpaid wages within the next two weeks with DMW-OWWA leading the distribution efforts. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was held on March 11, 2023 and almost two weeks passed already but no sign of distribution has been made. The DMW-OWWA and DSWD were supposed to provide P5,000 each for an estimated 10,000 workers-claimants, based on OWWA records. In all, the agencies will each allot P50 million to cover the financial grant. Earlier, Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople and Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) providing P10,000 as financial aid for each worker seeking unpaid wages from several Saudi construction companies that declared bankruptcy from 2015 to 2019.
