Pinoy OFW, Dondon Lanuza was freed from Death Row after Saudi King paid his blood money. According to Inquirer report, in February 2011, the Philippine government and the Saudi Reconciliation Committee in Dammam helped him secure forgiveness from the offended family. The family required a diyya or compensation worth P35 million. Filipino worker in JSaudi Arabia, Dondon Lanuza was saved after Saudi King paid his blood money. Filipino worker has finally been saved from death row in Saudi Arabia, after the Saudi government agreed to pay SR2.3 million (about P24.9 million) in blood money sought by his victim's kin according to GMA News.

Two Filipinos died at Algeria Hostage Taking- Rescue Operation according to a newspaper from Britain, The Times. DFA is yet to confirm the news however. CBS report said that, several casualties in failed rescue operation launched by Algerian army to try free hostages held by islamist militants on the BP gasfiield of IN AMENAS near the Libyan border.
