TV5 beat GMA-7 and ABS-CBN on TV Ratings during their coverage of FIBA Asia 2013 Semi-Finals on
Over five million Filipinos watched the local coverage of the FIBA Asia Championship last Saturday and Sunday, making TV5 the weekend primetime winner of the ratings game.
According to the Mega Manila TV audience measurement (MEGATAM) overnight data from Nielsen Media Research, TV5′s coverage of the heart-stopping game of Gilas Pilipinas against South Korea in the semifinal round on August 10 garnered 33.1 percent audience share, beating GMA-7′s 30.1 percent and ABS-CBN’s 24.3 percent.
After the dramatic win of the national team against South Korea, TV5 continued to lead the ratings on Sunday with its coverage of the finals game when Gilas Pilipinas battled for gold with basketball powerhouse Iran.
MEGATAM data showed that TV5 took a 38.1 percent audience share, beating GMA-7 (31.5 percent) and ABS-CBN (18.3 percent).
National Urban TV audience measurement (NUTAM) data showed the same winning trend with TV5′s 35.3 percent share equivalent to 5.7 million Filipinos tuned in the game, leading GMA’s 28.1 percent and ABS-CBN’s 25 percent.
