The Global Village has seen a great success since it has been launched in 1996 and through out the following years, establishing a unique tourist destination that is sought by visitors from all over the world. According to the statistics, which have shown an outstanding increase in the numbers of visitors and countries participating with special sets of pavilions on the location, the village is still by far the most exotic attraction of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). It’s a wholesome experience for the visitor to enjoy, as it offer them various of facilities and services.

- Opening date of the 15th season of Dubai Global Village is 11 November 2010. Duration 111 days.
- Registration for retail shops, services providers, restaurants and cafes from 21-31 August 2010, and for kiosks from 21 Aug-19 Sep 2010 (21 August 2010 press release).
General Information:
- Global Village is associated with the Dubai Shopping Festival, although the GV runs longer than the DSF.
- Global Village timings are usually around 1600-2400 weekdays, and 1600-0100 weekends.
- Mondays is family day only - men are not allowed to enter, or maybe men with families (their own) only. Check with GV first.
- First season of the Global Village was in 1996, held on the Deira side of Dubai Creek in the car park opposite the Dubai Municipality building. GV then moved to Oud Metha, then Dubai Festival City until 2004-2005.
- Moved to Dubailand location for the 2005-2006 season.
Theme Park:
- The Global Village has a small selection of somewhat underwhelming theme park rides, games, and amusements.
- The Ferris wheel goes high enough you can see more sand than you usually would from ground level. On a clear day you'll get a good view of the Burj Dubai. If anything else gets built in Dubailand then it will become a more interesting trip.
- There are a couple of very short roller coaster rides, and a few other machines that spin you round and try and shake your lunch out.
- Also the usually collection of prize-winning activities you'd find at most amusement parks and fairgrounds.
