Earlier, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has approved a resolution which regulates for the first time the online campaign gimmicks of candidates.
Based on Resolution No. 9615, the definition of political advertising will be broadened to include online content in “social networks, blogging sites, and micro-blogging sites,” aside from those in traditional platforms.
Under Resolution No. 9615 released for the 2013 elections, the Comelec has included "online election propaganda" to television, print and radio advertisements as a campaign medium to be regulated.
