Rumors roaming around that Congressman Winston “Winnie” Castelo of Quezon City filed House Bill 5379 or the Anti-Angry Birds Bill. According to blog posts, Castelo got the idea for the alleged bill when he went shopping at a mall and saw a lot of angry birds merchandise. You might recall that it was Castelo who filed the anti-planking act or bill of 2011, which was criticized for being pointless. But this time around, this anti-angry birds bill is a hoax . If this were true then the major news websites here in the Philippines would have picked it up. A lot of people actually fell for it and made it a trending topic on Twitter.

Photoshopped Picture of DPWH officials on Facebook draws controversy

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) drew the ire of Filipino netizens after they posted a “photoshopped” photo/image/picture on their official Facebook Page. The said photo shows DPWH Undersecretary Romeo Momo, Metro Manila Regional Director Reynaldo Tagudando, and South Manila District Engineer Mikunug Macud talking and assessing typhoon Pedring’s aftermath on the seawall in Baywalk along Roxas Boulevard. Civil engineer Pierre Albert San Diego was the one who first took notice and posted his analysis on his blog. “If they [DPWH] can fabricate simple things like this, just imagine what these guys can do to progress billings and acceptance of projects.” part of his blog post said. Nora Aunor’s YES! magazine cover holding a cigarette became controversial when the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) which supports the “Smoke Free Philippines” campaign and its volunteer running priest advocate Fr. Robert Reyes hit the Superstar and the publication saying the magazine cover conveys negative image of showbiz stars in the country. "The Filipino reading public is not dumb... If you want to be popular again, be wholesome. Gusto n'yo ba gayahin ka namin? Ang trabaho n'yo is to inspire us, not to scandalize us." Fr. Reyes said "Nora, you are ill-advised. You think you are moving forward, it's a step backwards." he added.
